Coeur d’Alene Regional Chamber Leadership Program

 

The Leadership Coeur d’Alene Program has been designed to create a learning environment that provides members with opportunities to gain in-depth knowledge of the community and its leadership. The program facilitates a platform that enhances members’ professional network, promotes the exchange of ideas,and inspires members to seek out new service opportunities in the community.

Leadership Coeur d’Alene Purpose:

  • To identify citizens of the area who have demonstrated the potential for leadership.
  • To provide information which will develop knowledge and understanding of our community, its complexities, and its potential.
  • To create an opportunity for participants to meet and exchange ideas with current community/area leaders.
  • To motivate participants to pursue leadership roles in the community.
  • To provide participants an opportunity to network and discuss issues in an informal learning environment.

Selection Criteria

Participation in Leadership Coeur d’Alene is open to persons living and working in the greater Coeur d’Alene area. A maximum of twenty-six individuals will be appointed to participate in the program. Since the number of appointments to Leadership Coeur d’Alene is limited, applicants who are not selected are encouraged to reapply in subsequent years. Participants will be chosen by the Leadership Coeur d’Alene Selection Committee based upon the information completed on this application and a follow-up interview.

The Committee will be seeking representation from a cross section of the community. The leaders and potential leaders will be active in business, education, the arts, religion, government and community-based organizations and will reflect the diversity of the community.

Applicants must have the full support of the organization or corporation they represent. Attendance at retreats and monthly sessions is mandatory. Those who fail to attend may be asked to withdraw with no refund of tuition.

GENERAL INFORMATION

One of the goals of LEADERSHIP COEUR D’ALENE is to build a network of community leaders who can enhance their problem-solving and other leadership abilities through shared perspectives and working together.

COMMITMENT

To graduate from LEADERSHIP COEUR D’ALENE, a participant is expected to attend all sessions. Orientation / Ice Breaker - This is an evening session held in March. One full weekday each month - March through December. Planning Retreat - One full day in January. Leadership Graduation - An evening program in February. Outside Activities - Each class plans social activities and other community involvement and service events throughout the year. Be prepared to participate. Active involvement in the planning of at least two sessions with a committee that will be decided at the January retreat. These planning sessions take place in the year following the class experience. I understand the purpose of the LEADERSHIP COEUR D’ALENE program. If selected, I will devote the time and resources necessary to complete the program. Even though emergencies do arise, any participant missing more than one session, for whatever reason, may be asked to withdraw from the program and no portion of the tuition shall be refunded. I understand the above commitments and agree to be bound by its terms and conditions. I understand that I can only miss one Leadership session; any additional sessions missed will result in not graduating. I understand that my seat will be given to a substitute if payment not received within 30 days of program acceptance. I understand that the dates of the sessions are available in the FAQ and that I have cleared my schedule accordingly. I understand that dietary preferences will not always be accommodated and am willing to prepare my needs accordingly. I understand that each day of the session is at multiple locations, both inside and outside, and will plan my needs accordingly.

A letter of recommendation is optional UNLESS you are applying for the Toni Saylor Scholarship. A letter of recommendation is REQUIRED if applying for the scholarship.

TUITION

If accepted into the LEADERSHIP COEUR D’ALENE program, you or your employer/sponsor will be billed for the tuition fee which covers all program costs, including meals at the orientation, retreat, and graduation ceremony. Leadership Coeur d’Alene is a highly competitive program with a cost of $1,250 per person. There are also two discounted non-profit seats at a cost of $850, and one scholarship seat for qualifying participants chosen to receive the Toni Sayler scholarship (see FAQ for additional qualifying factors). Payment must be made in full upon acceptance and within 30 days of that date. All tuition is final upon payment and cannot be refunded for any reason.
