Mission Statement

Mission Statement:  The mission of the Coeur d’Alene Convention & Visitor Bureau (CVB), the tourism marketing division of the Coeur d’Alene Chamber of Commerce, is to bring more visitors to the Coeur d’Alene area; to encourage repeat visits by those who have been here before; to extend the stays of visitors; and to connect those visitors with CVB members.

 About Us

The CVB is the official tourism marketing organization for the Coeur d'Alene area. The CVB formed in 1999 as a division of the Coeur d'Alene Area Chamber of Commerce. CVB finances are independent of the overall Chamber budget. Funding is derived from: Membership dues, Idaho Travel Council funds (marketing dollars only), co-op match dollars and fundraising activities. The CVB has an approximate annual marketing budget totaling $500,000 which includes ITC grant dollars and cash match from industry partners.

2012 Goals

  • Implement the 2011 – 2012 ITC grant as the core of our tourism-marketing program.
  • Use our web site as our primary fulfillment source that all our promotional programs drive visitors to, and ensure that our web site links easily with member businesses to encourage visitors to make bookings with our members.
  • Explore creating interactive, electronic venues at which potential visitors could find more personal and anecdotal information about Coeur d’Alene and our members.
  • Continue to measure the success of our efforts by tracking:

                                  Bed Tax Collections
Traffic to and from our web site
CVB member participation in our programs

  • Utilize, improve and implement a “Back of the House” information-sharing system in which members can share and keep current about information regarding the CVB, Coeur d’Alene, and Members.
  • Drive traffic to the Chamber’s Visitor Center and better utilize it and the Huetter Center to promote CVB members.
  • Help support non-profit organizations whose events and activities are an important part of our tourism product, while creating a marketing fund to assist in the creation of new events that would bring visitors during the shoulder seasons.
  • Continue to build our e-mail database as a key resource for reaching potential visitors.
  • Continue to utilize the message “YOUR LAKESIDE PLAYGROUND” to strengthen a consistent brand identity for Coeur d’Alene.

Added Comments:  The CVB Board has also established a sub-committee structure to implement the various elements of its ITC grant and marketing plan.  This approach ensures member participation and responsibility while providing timely decision-making.
