The Business Development Committee meets the 3rd Friday of every month at 7:30 am in the Chamber Office.
Mission Statement
It is the mission of the Business Development Committee to recognize business excellence and to develop programs that help member businesses succeed and thrive.
2012 Goals
- Recognize Business Excellence with a “Business Excellence Award" given each month in one of the following categories: 1) Service Excellence 2) Innovation Excellence 3) Community Excellence 4) Impact
- Organize, promote and participate in the annual Chamber “Business Tech Tour”;
- Continue to provide and promote as needed the small business mentor program;
- Sponsor an Upbeat Breakfast program, identify and secure speaker;
- Organize, promote and support the annual Kootenai County Job Fair;
- Develop a WEBINAR program through which member businesses can provide valuable business skills and information to other members using our web site to deliver that information;
- Promote and develop workshops on business skills and information that address the concerns and needs of the chamber membership and the community;
- To have committee representation at New Member Receptions to recruit and educate new members on Chamber committees activities and programs;
Business Excellence Award
Each month the Business Development Committee awards a “Business Excellence” award to a member of the Chamber. The award will be given to a business that has achieved excellence in either: Customer Service, Innovation, Community Service or Impact.
The award will be presented monthly at the Upbeat Breakfast. In addition, the award winners are publicly recognized among their community chamber members in the monthly newsletter and on the Chamber website for a month.
An award plaque will be given to the business to display at their place of business for years to come!
Business Excellence Award - Service
Purpose:
Each month, the committee “secret shops” member businesses to see who provides excellent customer service. We are looking for that “WOW” experience that makes a customer or client want to come back again and tell all their friends.
Business Excellence Award - Impact
Purpose:
To recognize member businesses that contribute to our community through economic impact and volunteer activities and whose primary customer is NOT in Kootenai County.
Criteria:
Needs to have been in business a minimum of 5 years in the community
Company must have 5 or more employees
Needs to have been involved in the community (weighted 25%)
Has had an economic impact in the community (weighted 75%)
Needs to be a Chamber member in good standing
Business Excellence Award - Innovation
Purpose:
To recognize a member business that has achieved a unique or high level of innovation in some aspect of their operations. This can be awarded for newly invented or new approach to doing business.
Examples: A superior or one-of-a-kind way of marketing, advertising, customer service, management style, employee training techniques, communication, etc. Or just an exclusive newly invented product or service.
Criteria:
Needs to be a member in good standing
Product, service, or a business feature which must be unique, creative, modernized or newly invented
Business Excellence Award - Community
Purpose:
To recognize a member business for their excellent community service, through volunteerism, donations, and general business practices that benefit the community as a whole.
Criteria:
Needs to be a member in good standing
Provide a service or donation or opportunity to help our community grow and prosper
