Mission Statement
The mission of the Business Development Committee is
develop programs that create a positive business climate for
the Coeur d'Alene community. Key activities include
organizing educational workshops, coordinating an annual
tour of technology related businesses, providing free and
confidential business counseling to businesses in
partnership with ISBDC, organizing the Executive Roundtable,
and sponsoring and coordinating the Annual Job Fair.
As part of that mission, the committee grants a monthly
Service Excellence Award and a quarterly Impact Award to a
member business.
2008 Goals
- Promote and develop 2 business forums that address
the concerns and needs of the chamber membership and the
community;
- Offer small business counseling through ISBDC mentor
program. Our goal is a minimum of 2 to 4 counseling sessions
with businesses in 2008;
- Name and acknowledge a monthly “Service Excellence”
award winner in recognition of outstanding customer
service;
- Name and acknowledge a quarterly “Impact” award
winner in recognition of outstanding economic
contributions to our community;
- Sponsor an Upbeat Breakfast program, identify and
secure speaker;
- Organize, promote and participate in the annual
Chamber “Business Tech Tour”;
- Organize, promote and support the annual Kootenai
County Job Fair;
- Develop and promote the “Executive Roundtable”
Program;
- Maintain quality committee membership;
- Conduct 1 chamber membership needs assessment survey
every other year. Survey responses will be used to
determine future areas of concentration for the
committee’s efforts. Next survey 2008.
- Continue to work with the Workforce Development Task
Force by providing assistance with member business and
workforce issues.
Service Excellence Award
Every month, the committee "secret shops" member
businesses to see who provides excellent customer service.
Or, as past Chairman Joe Anderson says, we're looking for
that "wow experience."
Then at the monthly Upbeat Breakfast, that business is
presented the award, along with a Service Excellence plaque
for them to display at their place of business.
So, who nominates businesses for the Service Excellence
award? You do! Just contact a committee member or

Business.
